Ford quit putting the 3.0 in Rangers in 07 or early 08, so if the truck you're looking at is actually a 2011 with a 3.0, then it's been swapped in

+1 ^^^

2009 and up Rangers had just two engine options, 2.3l 4cyl Duratec or 4.0l SOHC V6
Ford engine plant stopped making the 3.0l Vulcan engine in 2008, so 2008 was last model year it was used in Rangers

read here on that engine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Vulcan_engine

I wonder if the person selling the 2011 model just made a typo with that 3.0. Or doesn't even know for a fact what engine it has, and just put that there. Because I doubt switching from a 4.0 to a 3.0 is easy. Different motor mounts, transmission adapter, new pcm, etc. And why in the world would anyone switch from a 4.0 to a 3.0 in the first place? There's no replacement for displacement. Except a supercharger or turbocharger. I don't do laughing gas. LOL :D
