I have the feeling Petroleumjunkie would not be afraid to race dirty...
He'd have to catch up for that to matter, and I'm not playing in the dirt. Even if he did manage to catch up, I'm not sure that truck would stay in one piece long enough to play dirty.

I skimmed through his thread. He's not the first or last person to play with a "worthless" ignored undersized V6. Like I said my 2.8L wasn't exactly stock. Fresh bottom end, performance cam, ported heads, offenhauser intake, holley 390, long tube headers, etc. Don't recall all the exact specs, been too long. Biggest things holding the engine back was a shitty transmission. Just before totaling I was collecting parts to improve rest of truck to match engine. Had parts for lowering, all new suspension, and bigger brakes. Was going to get a later model 5 speed from a Mustang and start playing with gearing. When this happened nothing else mattered:

Now I'm playing with this:

Once that's closer to done I'll be back to the 86 Ranger V8 swap, then maybe find something to do with the 2.8L. Fair warning, don't hold you breath. It's already been 9 years since I started the V8 swap truck, keep loosing interest.

:icon_confused: is that supposed to mean something? Lots of things come to mind, but none are very good.

EDIT: Nevermind, I actually had to look that one up. Grimace, didn't even remember that McDonalds character.

My credo
Give 'yer balls a tug. Fight me.
Eh. I've welded a bunch of crap back together on it, fishplated some stuff, and ripped out a few T-posts and welded them in places that didn't look strong enough. Works good now.

I'd be up for a throwdown between a 2.8 and a 2.9. Seems fair to me, carburetion vs. EFI.

Wait.

Nah. You'd suck. Get that shit back together and fight me you coward! ?

I've left moat of.the supercharger stuff of my main build thread. SO CLOSE to having it finished. Ugh. Just need an uninterrupted weekend or two and I'd have it done.

Maybe. I have pipe bumpers for a reason...

Mostly because I'm Mr. Magoo and bump into shit all the time.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

Believe me I wish I could get that shit "back" together. That day sucked. The 84 was my first vehicle. It had been in my family since I was a toddler and was the only vehicle I wanted when I turned 16.

super charged 2.9L...

I've thought about turbos on the 2.8 in the past, but I'd rather just keep it naturally aspirated. Maybe an EFI kit, but for my plans NA will make more than enough power.

Pipe bumpers... is that a threat? Might just have to bring the F-100 instead. Body swap is already under consideration for it, so a few more dents won't hurt. But once again, it'll be a few years before it can make that kind of trip. Well at least a few years until I can afford to feed it for that kind of trip.
