LOL, appreciate the laugh guys.

Duck the LS, I've got a FE.

I've got enough projects already. Between the 68 F-100 4x4 that and the 86 Ranger V8 swap (if I ever get back to it), I've got enough to keep me busy for years.

The intent is for this not to be a project. It's getting another 4.0L not going to engine swap this one. If it fails again the whole truck is gone.

Yeah. Something fun like a 3.0l.

Wait. Nope. Don't use that one. Bad idea. Waste of time. Find something else.
How about an L15A? DOHC, VTEC, 130HP. 1500ccs of fun, and great fuel mileage, too.

Or, if you wanna go nowhere fast, how about a 1.2l Subaru 3cyl. No idea what the specs are on it, but the Justy had cruise control. Just hold your foot to the floor. Top speed was just over 70mph.

Ok PetroleumJunkie412, with everything I read about you, I'm trying to figure out why you haven't suggested a 2.9L yet. Or was that what you were referring to by something fun?

If I were going to play with a Subaru, I'd have to build an Outfap. I just don't care for horizontally opposed engines in a car. Not knocking them, they work, I just don't care for them.

The 2.9 shouldnt have to be suggested.

It should just automatically be the first choice popping into any RBV owners head when it comes time to swap.

Why this isnt the case i have no clue.

Oh, ok. Ya see the first thing that comes to me when searching for an engine swap candidate (rbv or not) is can I put a 2.8L in it.

I've got one with less than 5k miles on it when I totaled the 84 Ranger. It wasn't exactly stock either, but not suitable for a 4wd as built. Someday I'll find a proper home for it, but it probably won't be a RBV. Maybe a small car or build a buggy (think DF Goblin) around it, dad wants to build it into a track-T which sounds fun too. RBV or not, I'd put it against a 2.9L any day.

You'd try... and you'd loose. :thefinger:

Fortunately for you all I can do is talk shit. The engine doesn't currently have a home and that's not going to change any time in the near future. Even if it did, I'm not driving to PA to play.
