I wanna put a 25 watt or so solar panel on my truck just to keep a little trickle charge in it when it's not being used and not near the house. I had a all in one little gizmo but it stopped working and didn't do much to begin with...

I know I need a controller first. Found the battery tender solar jr which seems to meet the specs.

I want to mount the controller under the hood permenantly, run the wires into the cab and install a plug on the dash so I can stick the panel on against the windshield or throw it on the roof.

I found this for a panel
Newpowa 30 watt panel

These two gizmos seem good? Anything else I need besides just wiring them up?

Have you considered a photovoltaic paint job on the hood?

If snoranger comes through with the cap for my truck I may just mount it permanently to the cap and finally setup my truck for camping like I always wanted. The tarp thrown over the ladder rack is getting old...

So will these things work or what!?

I was looking at this yesterday, but it is more money. Got good reviews.
