There. Said it. I hate it.

Can't un-say it. Wouldn't want to, either.

I hate it.

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
Care to elaborate? What do you hate about it? What do you like about it?

I don't like the front end. The grille and headlights don't look right... It looks like they took the front end from a Fusion and put a bumper under it.

I like the rest of the truck.

I can see why one would. The styling could be better for sure. It sort of reminds me of the 90s Ford trucks that were all rounded off and girliefied.

The narrow windows, while a trendy styling cue is counter intuitive for what a truck is supposed to be designed for.

The suspension was designed to make the Urban Cowboy and Soccer Mom happy. If I wanted a Lincoln, I would have bought one.

I’ve yet to decided what I think about the powerplant. It has plenty of get up and go but there is something about a four banger in a mid sized truck where a V6 Ecoboost would have made more sense. Then again, Chevy is putting a four banger in their 1500. So I suppose it could be worse.

I like the truck but I don’t love it. It will do the job I bought it for but it does have things going against it.

I wouldn't say that I hate it... but it's gonna take awhile for them to grow on me. I did see a STX in the Rural King parking lot about a week ago... steel wheels and all... it certainly didn't move me to get out my checkbook.

Four banger is good by me. It's in line with Rangers past.

The transmission needs to be loaded into a catapult and sent elsewhere.

No choice this time around for me. The backup vehicle had to be an automatic regardless of what brand I went with.

My woman, while knowing how to drive a stick is no longer physically capable of driving one. Since the old backup vehicle was a stick, she would have been S.O.L. if her clown car broke. As luck would have it. I pretty much got the new truck just in time for such an event. It turns out Nissan/Renault CVT transmissions are craptastic but it was still under warranty. So she is backup and running with next to nothing out of pocket.

I tried to talk her into finishing getting it fixed up (some trailer park trash damaged her cars front end while throwing a hissy fit over something said trash’s other half said or did) and unload the vehicle while the getting is good. Didn’t work. So, hopefully, it will hold up for a while and not make me regret pushing not harder for her to dump it.

What’s wrong with the automatic?

For the first time since the C5 went away for ‘85 the ranger has something not based on the pinto C3.

It is the best automatic for sure ever put in a Ranger.

Yep. It's a version of the same 10 speed used in the F150, right?

I don't like the new ranger either. Looks too fat with the super crew, looks too big in general, the bed is useless for actual work, and it's too expensive.

From what I retained basically the same thing but with a slightly smaller housing. It should be way overbuilt for the powerplant hanging off the front and the carcass it is mounted in.

They do drive goofy until they learn how to shift for ya so don't judge them too harshly if you test drive a new one. They are young and still figuring out the ways of the world at that point

I don't like the new ranger either. Looks too fat with the super crew, the bed is useless for actual work, it's too expensive, and overall looks too big (visually... i dont know the actual dimensions and how it compares).
Very similar dimension-wise to an old supercab Ranger with a 3" lift... but the bed is a whopping 12" shorter.

I parked my '85 next to one, it was eye to eye but the '19 was a shy foot longer overall (mine is a standard cab longbox) It also had a much longer wheel base which would hurt the turning but improve ride and stability.

A quote from National Lampoon's Vacation comes to mind:

"If you hate it now, wait until you drive it!"

Altho from Jim's TAT adventure with the Loan Ranger, I would say that it is a pretty decent truck.

You mean like the Lightning? Girliefied? Farkin LOL! Us Lightning drivers consider them the ultimate F-150. The epitome of the F-150 truck. Girliefied. With a supercharged V-8? THe pink one below, maybe? That was a custom vinyl wrap job. Still looks killer to me though. The top one is mine. Magnum Powers supercharger, EGR delete, two cats deleted, hi-flow cats for the other two, running 14 pounds boost (stock is 8).

Yup, hate the new Ranger. Couldn't give me one.
