02 4.0 auto 112,000 miles. Stopped at the post office everything was fine when I shut it off. I crank 'er back and immediate stall. Would run with my foot on the gas so I drove it home (2 miles)- it would only run with my foot at the top of the pedal, and not much power. Got it home, stumbling and some black smoke out of the tailpipe. Any ideas? CEL not on yet...

IAC.

Pop the hood and put your hand on it while a friend turns the key from off to run (don't need to crank). You should be able to feel it move a little.

I would bet the Idle Air Control (IAC) too. Remove it and clean it up some.

Good answer. I noticed the idle is way high when it cranks now since I let it cool down and started it again. Thanks.
