I have had this truck for a few months, I have never been able to get it running right.
Now, it decided that it won't start at all.
It has 40 Lbs fuel pressure, and fresh components throughout. Obviously I have overlooked something.
It cranks, fires once intermittently, but won't start.
The spark seems to fire hard for one rotation, then doesn't fire for a turn or two, then fires without much conviction if I let it crank on, but it will not start.
I've tried it with the spout in or out, no difference. Putting the pedal to the floor, no difference.

I welcome any intelligent advice, as intelligence seems to be something I've run out of.
I shot a little video of it not starting which can be seen here.

For as much as you have cranked the engine and it won't start... I would pull the plugs. They simply have to be wet from fuel. Dry out the plugs... disable the fuel and ignition system and spin the engine over (plugs removed) several times to push out the unburned fuel. Install dry or fresh plugs... enable fuel and ignition and start it up.

I already did all that, BTW- instead of pulling plugs you can just pull the pump relay and crank it a little bit to clean out cylinders. You can hear when the plugs
clean up

I take it back, I can't imagine the engine rotating at all with a bunch of fuel in it, but I'm used to working on much hjigher compression engines. I will give it a try.

check the ignition control module

pull it and have it tested (oriellys should be able to test it) you will also need more thermal paste

also inspect coils for cracks damage then with a spray bottle get them wet and see if you have spark if not coil is bad

On the off chance that somebody else encounters a similar problem, I am following up with this. The truth is I read many, many posts which described symptoms similar to the ones I had experienced, but I don't think I came across any with the same outcome as mine.

What the truck needed was a valve job. I performed this myself (I own the proper tools to do the job, however it's been a decade or two since I've used them).

The truck now runs like it just rolled off the showroom floor, and should be good for at least another 100,000 miles. Not bad for a $250 truck (Okay, I probably spent 6 or 7 huindred getting everythjing sorted out).

Interesting. Had you done a compression test or leakdown? Have those results?

What year is the truck?

That sounds like a ignition module or cam/crank sensor failure if its EDIS

1, 2, and 3 had almost no compression (the exhaust valves had sunk so far into the head that they no longer could close) 4 had like 75Lbs.
After the valve job I did a leak down and all 4 were at about 3% leak.

I'd bet your coils primary or secondary circuits are gone.. blue wite spark is whats required on iridium correct plugs and make sure your firing order is right boots all tight..coils are cheap online buy the good ones not chinese crap and both, new wires lifetime wouldn hurt. depends on what you have done already

Also depends on where you are checking for spark, if you were checking on the drivers side there will be inconsistent spark on cranking, primary coil pack is passenger side...
