Have an oil change coming up and I,m ordering a Fumoto Drain Valve (have them on all my other vehicles)
But, Fumoto lists 2 possible sizes for my 2009 Ranger with the 2.3, and it might be either one.
A 14mm x 1.5 thread and
A 12 mm x 1.75 thread.
Can't measure mine unless I pull it and drain, but then will have to wait a few days to get valve.
Anyone know which size is the most prevalent ?

Yeah, I could, but kind of silly to do.
May just have to pull it and order proper size...Amazon can get it to me next day, so LIL RNGR won't be down for long. Just thought someone might know of one size being used more than the other, or a cut-off date.
Not due for another few hundred miles, so no rush.

Yeah, saw that. But Fumoto web site indicates there are 2 different sizes.. The 14 x 1.5 is the 106 series which I have used on my Mustangs and current V-10 motor home.
I guess I'll just have to pull it. My luck I'll order the 106 and find out I have the other one, which uses the 107 series.

I just waited until my oil change was due and pulled my plug to check the threads. Ordered the correct drain plug on ebay for $18.00 and waited another 3000 miles before installing the new plug. I just kept the new drain plug in my cup holder to remind me to install it.
I'd rather be patient and save money.

Another option would be to just drain your oil into a clean container, measure your oil plug threads and then reinstall the plug and pour it back thru a funnel so you could continue using the truck until the plug comes in the mail.

Mine ended up using the F106 series. I just went ahead and ordered it/took a chance. Every other Ford I have installed them on used the F106 series.
