Anyone using the Econoline mechanical fuel pump have pictures or specs on the fittings? Says it's 1/8-27 NPSF. I had a straight fitting I found in an old carburetor but the gas line is in the fan now that I removed the fan spacer after I destroyed the radiator and old fan. I found a 1/8 NPT to 5/16 hose 90° fitting at the parts store but it leaks bad. It'd be a lot easier to put a 90 in a piece of metal tubing but I'll never figure out all the sizes and adaptor fittings. The guys at the parts store know less about plumbing than I do.

I'm almost certain you have ruined the threads trying all the wrong size fittings on and no matter what it will leak now. Just sayin...

Ford fuel pumps did use pipe threads, tapered so they seal when tightened

1/8-27 NPSF is a pipe thread

Problem with 90's is that you have to take fuel pump off to install it, usually not enough room to spin it on

Pull off the fuel pump and take it to the parts store to get the correct 90

Where does the 1/8 NPT to 5/16 hose 90° fitting leak?

I had to go look up what a npsf fitting is. Found out it stands for National Pipe Straight Fuel. A NPT is threaded in for a leak free fitting or a sealant like an oring is used.

It leaks at the threads. I thought about going another turn but I'm afraid I might crack the pump. It took five days just to get the fuel pump when i ordered it and it's pretty expensive for a mechanical pump. If i could find an adapter I'd go from the pump to a normal 1/2-20 hard line. That'd be so much easier to install too. I could come straight out with my old fitting then into a 90° with hose barbs on both ends but I don't like a lot of connections with gas line. I even found a few old Econolines at the junkyard but the hardline was missing.

Chances are... you already damaged the pump.

I might be mistaken... but that fitting on your pump was not intended for NPT. I believe it was for a double flared fitting.

It definitely leaked when I tried an NPT fitting. I found a straight thread fitting. I'm sure a stock Econoline used a flared metal line with a fitting but I couldn't find one.

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
It's supposed to be a 5/16 steel line with a flare fitting, not pipe thread. You'll need t be luckier than me to save the threads.
