I hope this is allowed. Just wanted to pass this along to anyone looking to save a few bucks on these gaskets. They normally run in the $40 range. I paid $19 and change delivered for a set.

Yeah, RockAuto has been clearing out a lot of gaskets at wholesale lately. I picked up a Fle-Prop permadry oil pan gasket for my 4.0 for just under $8 the other week.

These things are not all they're cracked up to be. Maybe better than a cheapo cork piece but I'm starting to think that nothing beats OEM.

I put all Permadry gaskets on my 302 about 8 years ago or 5000ish miles and they're all seeping a little. Redid the valve covers in my Explorer that were NOT leaking before (had to, was doing lower intake seals) and now the driver's side is leaking quite a bit.

I'm a stickler for making sure the surfaces are clean and everything's lined up right... it's not an install issue. Frustrating.

I bought a set from Rock Auto a while back and used them a few months ago when I checked and adjusted the valve lash. It didn't take very long for me to notice an oil leak at the back of the passenger side valve cover. I checked the covers for flatness before reassembly, so I'm not sure what happened.

I read somewhere to use Permatex High Tack to glue cork gaskets to the valve covers (with weight applied to the cover on a flat surface until the High Tack dries), then use Permatex Form-A-Gasket No. 2 between the cork gasket and the head. I've got everything I need to do the job, but I'm waiting for a convenient time when I'm really looking forward to doing it (like just before the fire from oil flowing onto the catalytic converter).

Those PermaDryPlus valve cover gaskets are nice - when the work.

Hmmm.... These are not encouraging reports on the Fel-Pros. I thought these were the ones to get.

I have always used the blue Fel-Pros on Windsors, never had a problem.

That may be, but I bought OEM gaskets from motorcraft when I changed my heads, and literally a month later I had oil seeping through. I retightened the bolts and that helped a little, but it still isn't right. Felpro blue is on its way, so I'll be finding out how that works out soon enough.
