Is there a relitively cheap way to have distributorless ignition on an 86 5.0L? Are explorer 5.0L distributorless? Are there aftermarket kits?

I don't know why you'd want to, but the Explorer/Mountaineer 5.0's were DIS.

Or if you hate to keep money in your pocket you can go with an MSD crank trigger setup. Unless you are racing I wouldn't really waste the time or money especially with a stock system and I would go with the MSD over the stock one anyway. If you really want DIS you could use the later Explorer setup.

How could that prevent you from using a Roots blower ? I've seen lots of these on Ford small blocks and they worked out fine.

guess im wrong then. Seems to me, and im no expert on the matter, that the distributor might interfer with mounting a roots blower. But im willing to accept that i am wrong, no problem there.
