Ha! One old mercedes is enough for me. I have already spent too much time and money on this thing, but! It's cool, it's retro, and it's fun to drive. A diesel would be cool, but they are painfully slow!

Snapped this pic today. My truck vs a stock 2wd

Body work on my new cab is starting this week. If I can get my act together I should have it painted and on my frame by spring

So the Lock Right locker in my 7.5" stopped locking the other day. In fact, it stranded me a few miles from home. I had to drive home in 4x4, and on pavement with a front locker is an interesting experience. I don't recommend it.

Here's the damage. At first glance it doesn't look like much but upon closer inspection you can see the teeth have quite a bit of wear. To be fair, I have had this locker for 10+ years, and it's been in and out of three different RBV's

You leave 1 hub unlocked at least? Looks like its time for an Aussie ;)

I've tried that before but it pulls to one side so much that it's even more scary. I was only a few miles from home and I was able to drive slow, so it wasn't too bad.

I would like to get an Aussie, but they don't make one for the 7.5. I have an Aussie in the front and it's great. I ordered an Auburn Gear Max Lock locker which looks identical to the Lock-Right; we'll see how it performs. My Lock-Right has been acting up for the past year or so, so I wasn't too surprised when it finally went out.

I twisted off a rear driveshaft one time and had to drive home in front wheel drive with a lock-rite... I feel ya... NOT something I want to ever do again. I got pulled over for going too slow, lol.

Yup still running the 7.5". I haven't had any issues with it until now, and this isn't the axles' fault.

I've considered getting an 8.8" but after getting the axle, gearset, brakes and locker I'd be into it a good $800. It makes more sense to run the 7.5" until it blows up.

New locker :icon_thumby:

This one is much better behaved than my lock right. It locks and unlocks like it should. What's interesting is that they look exactly the same; the tolerances must be different or something.

A bit late to the party here... (I found your thread from your post in ericbphoto's thread in GD), but this is some very nice work here :icon_thumby: (I did feel quite sad for that nice white 2WD you cut up, but at least it went to a good cause).

I like your solution to the Superlift bushing setup on your steering, very ingenious. I've had a few ideas of my own for that as well, though I've yet to implement them... I've not had a whole lot of trouble with the bushings other than the upper ones only last 3-5 years or so before I can start to feel some play in the idler arm (it's about a 30-minute job to replace them).

Only thing I might've done different is put the traction bar to the right side of the diff housing (reduces some of the torque twist from the driveshaft that way).

Nice job.
