Just started a new part time job driving parts for Advance. I love watching the other drivers fight over who gets the Chevy Colorado or Chevy Sonic.

I always just grab the Ranger keys that no one wants.

Reasons I hear I shouldn't like it:
1: It squeaks
2: It ticks
3: It acts "funny" at 55mph
4: Manual windows
etc.

One of the other drivers asked me why in the world I always choose the Ford "POS". I just pointed to my personal vehicle. My 1993 Ford Ranger!

Anyone else drive one for work too?

Sure did! Costed me around 60 bucks for the whole thing. I like them a lot. Makes the truck stand out!

It's a pretty easy process. If you ever need any help with them sometime, let me know!

No. But some of my buddies do and they hate the Ranger Fleet crap trucks. So boaring with the crap 4 banger and they get repaired a lot. They wish they had a Tacoma or a GM or a Chevy 4 door to drive instead...lol

I don't know of many people that like their allotted fleet trucks no matter what they are.

I think it starts out about something small they don't like and then they get beat down the point that they really are junk.

I'm self employed and work outside (yeah, I'm lucky). I chose a ranger for my work due to the fact that it's smaller than my Dodge 2500 4X4 quad cab with an 8ft bed! The little ranger can get places easily where the larger truck simply cannot. I actually first looked at pre 2004 toyotas but they were way out of my price range (most were more than $10,000). I wanted a little truck where the front drivetrain was more durable than IFS. TTB seemed to fit the bill since a factory solid axle does not exist in a small truck in the US (small diesel engine would have been nice too). Anyway that led me to the ranger.

So far I don't mind the fleet Ranger, maybe time will tell.

yes, I've been driving my 05 for work since November 05 when I bought it new.
2005, Reg cab, 2.3, manual 5 sp. 3.73 open diff. Fiberglass cap on the back, with 500 pounds of stuff in the bed.
only options were AC and a radio. yep, its basically a fleet truck. kind of noisey.
last week it hit 218,000 miles. I'm still on the factory clutch thats been making lots of noise since last Christmas, maybe I'll replace it before next Christmas.
with that 500 lbs in the back and good tires, snow has not been a problem.
on the stock 225/70-15 tires the drivetrain and brakes are near perfection. on 235/75-15 there is a slight difference in acceleration, braking, and handling.
on 245/70-16 heavy, too heavy, tires and wheels the acceleration is way off, ditto for the brakes and handling.
crank windows are well suited for sudden rain showers, or just letting the summer heat out. the wiffies DD 2000 ranger 4x4 also has manual windows.

conclusion: if the AC works what the hell else matters??

My credo
Love Thy Neighbor
I've been using my 88 Ranger for doing just about everything lately...except having sex...but I won't go into that right now since there's not much to talk about anyway...

The Odo shows 433 thousand and some odd kilometers...the body needs work...the engine needs work...the tires are tired...the exhaust is almost exhausted...have to push all four cylinders to get it up a steep hill...and sometimes I think two of them are still resting at the bottom of the hill...or hiding somewhere...but I love every minute of driving this truck.

I rebuilt it from the ground up...a few times...still plugging away at it...mostly because it needs work and I need work and it needs to work when I'm working so I can turn the earnings into Ranger feed...

Wouldn't drive another truck if it was given to me...well, maybe...:)

Mark, I once said the same things about Fords in general. Then Fred entered my life (for free). Getting him fixed up has been less of a pain than most Ford products have been to me. Now all he truly needs at this time is getting the speedometer drive gear installed without either trip to the transmission shop or pulling the tk-5.
