Anyone add LSD to a Ranger with an open diff?

Found my near perfect Lariat, but missing the electric locking rear diff option.

So, given a price I could not pass up, bought the thing.

Since the Ranger shares the rear diff with Jeep, I plan on exploring using Spicer's LSD carrier for the Dana 44 Advantek diff.

A bit of spline counting and measurements should confirm the possibility.

Has anyone already taken this path?

No one that has posted here. I'm not sure we ever nailed down what exact series of axle it is or is compatible with. We do know it's an Advantek for sure but that's about it.

According to my book the axle is a Dana M220. It's not really a D46, but it is stronger and bigger than a D44.

The were also used in Colorados and JL Wranglers.

Had not found the GM connection, makes for a wider net to cast for info.

With the Canyon/Colorado duo on the road as long as they have, might have more luck.

Most of the Jeep info is HD locker related, not daily street limited slip stuff.

Thanks!

I purposefully looked for a truck with the locker because I couldn’t find LSD options for it. Hopefully by the time I need a new truck (5+ years) there will be more options, otherwise I’m going to find a very old rig instead.

Thank you for that. I've seen some M220 stuff before but was never really sure it applied to the 2019 Ranger.
