8.8 4.10 rear.... Trying to find out socket size for pinion seal nut

Hi, Just trying to find out the socket size I will need when I go out and change out the pinion seal.... that big nut behind the u-joint that holds on the seal.... yes, I already have a gear puller at the ready!

Google says 1 1/16" socket...

metric equivalent is 27mm
you "should" replace the nut, most parts places have them cheap.

Technically you are supposed to replace the nut, the seal and crush collar (it is behind the front bearing) together

But to do that also requires pulling the carrier and ring gear, so you can properly set pinion bearing preload.

Do remember that proper diff setup is important because those components are the most highly stressed components in the truck
