I read an article, actually a couple articles, that speculated Ford may have an optional V-6 in the 2020 Ranger.

Anybody know if that's fact or fiction?

I don't think you'll see any major engine choice changes till the first redesign.

No one has seen anything concrete on such a thing, only rumor. Like stated above, a lot is going to depend in what they do with the Bronco.

The article I read stated that the Ranger will get the 2.7 Ecoboost and the Bronco will be stuck with the current Ranger engine.

Apparently the next Ranger is being tested overseas with the 2.7 and a diesel, and we all know the US will never get another diesel Ranger anytime soon.. The article stated that the testing was obviously being done for two different global market segments.

Again, rumors...

My question is - why hasn't The Ranger Station gotten a mole inside of Ford yet? Y'all are slackin!

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

It's more fun to go out in the woods and practice our commando driving skills than to infiltrate Ford's office areas as spies.

Also;
Rumor + Rumor = Joke

I read online that all fords will be nuclear powered by 2022 and the bronco will be built on a hovercraft platform.

Maybe we do and Ford sent you in hopes someone would let their username slip?

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!

It was confirmed in the dealers preview event a few months ago that the Bronco will have a 2.3T and a (yet undisclosed size) V6.
The current Ranger chassis was never designed for a V6... it only has 4cyl (gas and diesel) overseas. They are/have redesigned the chassis that will be shared between the 2021 Bronco and 2022 Ranger to fit a V6 for the North American market.
They've yet to confirm the V6 will be available in the 2022 Ranger... but it's still a long time away.

If they do put a V6 in it, they better leave the turbo crap off of it, and give us a usable sized truck bed, for $40k+ it should be a usable truck not a 80's or 90's Toyota.

Well for 30k you could just buy an f150 and not have to complain about the ranger not being an f150... :dunno:
