The dash-lamp for the airbag on my '02 XLT will occaisionally, on startup, flash the airbag lamp several times and then stay on solid. The code seems to be "7-4-7," but if it's a two-digit, then it might be "4-7." It doesn't do this on every startup, every other startup or so.
Any thoughts from the peanut gallery?

Code 47 is for the passenger side side pretensioner circuit resistance.

Usually, just disconnecting and reconnecting the plug under the passenger seat will get rid of the light, at least temporarily. A better fix is to carefully clean the pins and reassemble the connector packed with dielectric compound to prevent corrosion.

if this doesnt fix it a new connector might be in store..

Hope this helps man..

There is a TSB for this problem, i have done a few of them at work now. As already stated, you clean the connector with electrical contact cleaner and add a bit of dielectric gease to the connection. Ford also recommends that you fold the connector over on itself and electrical tape the wire to it to keep it from being effected by vibrations. Good luck!

Also, play it safe and disconnect the battery for a bit before you go about doing this repair.
