I didn't realize the 2500 now has rear coils.

Does the tint actually keep the truck cooler inside?

Any plans on rust proofing?

I didn't know either until I drove a 2500 after a 3500. In 2014 started the rear linked suspension on the 2500. Coils are standard with air ride as an option. The coils obviously have a much lower payload capacity. On paper at least. The air option brings you back up to the 3500 capacity. My budget limited me the bottom trim which pretty much never have the air option haha.

If you use the right tint (not the cheap stuff), it is unbelievably cooler. I use a ceramic tint. If you turn on a heat lamp and put this tint between the lamp and your hand, you will second guess if the lamp is even on.

I will get it protected some how. Never had to do this and it is all new to me. Then after this winter, I hope to be able to drive the Mounty on bad, salty days.

I feel like you could add the air option off a wrecked truck if you needed it.

That's incredible. My wife just asked me about that yesterday and I told her I didn't know.

I spray bar and chain oil underneath every year using a schutz gun. It has worked pretty well so far. I'd also invest in wheel well liners for the bed if it did not come with them.

Went to Carlisle Truck Nationals last weekend. Good times as usual.
However, this year I had a road ready truck. Usually I am scrambling around fixing little stuff to make the 800+ mile round trip.
So I dug some seats out of the barn and welded up a frame at 11pm the night before I left lol. Boom, cruising hitch seats. They were a hit! And much stronger than expected. 250# guys were jumping on it like a diving board all day. No issues.
Next year it was requested I add an umbrella and cup holders. But hopefully its on the back of the Mounty and the hatch can be used as a sun barrier.

I cut some holes and stuff. Added a pedal.

96 Ranger pedals bolted in

Extra parts....
I mean, making room for the ZF

I plan to make all the room I need for the ZF this weekend. I need to cut off the torsion bar mounts and move a few things. Maybe even try and get the ZF in.

My trans tunnel looks similar to yours before I put the zf in my truck. I have to unbolt the motor and tilt it back to initially get the tranny input into the pilot. My motor is pretty far back though too

Good to know. When I compared the ZF to the auto, the ZF has a steeper drop than the auto. So I assume it should fit. I had to loosen the engine to remove the auto as well.

I got one of the T-bar mounts off. Those suckers are certainly welded on there. No surprise though.
I dropped the rusted fuel tank out. Gravity did most of the work. It was way worse than anticipated. Actually, the whole back of the truck is a bit crusty. Might have to link the rear sooner than expected. I want to get the other side cut off soon. Just got back from a Mexico vacation and bought a house. Staying busy

I would like to get this ZF in before I move in early December since my new out building doesn't have a concrete floor yet. Time (and weather) is against me. Might throw it in the attached garage for now :D

Not sure what I am going to do with the new place. Might even knock it down and build a whole new building next fall. It is a basic pole building built in 1986. It does have 60amp service. Its 32 wide by 24 deep x 8 tall. I want a 40 wide x 32 deep x 12+ high. Or I might just add a high bay and go from there. In this area I am allowed up to 1500 sq ft without a variance. That is plenty big for what I need.

12-31-16 will mark 2 years. :icon_surprised: I need to at least have the drivetrain in by then! I'm such a slacker

And yes, after I sent this picture to some friends I was reminded that I forgot the starter plate. So I pulled the FW back off last night. Ordered a rear main this morning after I found out they were $6. 7.3 ones are like $80.

New digs. One owner. 1958. The inside is still, nineteen fifty eight. But the bones are there.
