I knew it's a 9 I was wondering what it's doing in an 8.8" housing. I had a fun time telling the kid at o'reily's it's a 9" in an 8.8 housing and a seal for a 9" won"t fit, I got the same look when I explained what makes the sun so bright to my dog- ovalblues

it's a 1-84 discovered this oddball finding a pinion seal for it, it tales a pinion seal for an 8.8". door plate has axle code 16, tag says 9"- ovalblues

new here, I have a 1984 ford f-150 4x4 with an 8.8" rear housing with a 9" differential carrier I have been a mech for 45 years and I've never seen one like this, tag on carrier is MDM BK2 3M20 3:50 9 S 318D- ovalblues
