Jeep 3" lift coils - How much lift?

Hey, I have seen people mention a few times about 3" lift coils for a jeep to use in the front end. How much lift does this provide?
Has anyone tried to stuff bigger jeep coils under there?
I assume everyone means Jeep TJ/YJ coils yes?

i've always been told XJ coils.. but i con't see why it matters.. if you have a winch bumper and winch or heavier motor i'd even say ZJ coils, they are a tad bit stiffer but not TTB stiff
