I can't be the only one who has experienced this. So, I thought I'd ask if anyone had any solutions. Unfortunately, my truck has crank windows and my new 6X8's rattle them pretty good when I've got my stereo turned up. Has anyone had this, and how did you fix it? It's rattling the knob itself, as well as the plastic washer thingamajig.

You can try dynamat around the speaker opening or maybe one of the speaker baffles? I just put new speakers in and have not noticed the rattle but then again my whole truck rattles.

I did QuickRoof on the doors, which is poor mans Dynamat. This helped immensely with sound, but it created a rattle on the outside. :annoyed:

In my contour, I just took the handle off and repositioned it so that when the window was rolled up it wasn't right infront of the speaker, but I think maybe a rubber band wrapped around in the gaps might work. I have power windows in my Ranger though so I can't check.

Good idea, I'll try the rubber band idea for he knob. I'm tall (and fat), so I have to put my drivers crank on just right to keep from smacking my knee on it all the time. I think I might put some moleskin on the washer doohickey though.

I had the same exact same problem. I put 4 or 5 hair ties behind each knob and it keeps them from rattling. I had to wrap each one around a couple of times. Rubber bands should work too. It annoyed the heck out of me.

you can try the hair ties and rubber bands that will work or you can do what i did and gorrila glued the backs of them and when they were drying i kinda broke them loose so they wouldnt be glued tight to where i couldnt turn em but enough to where they wouldnt rattle

The foam washers that come at the top of blank cd spindles or battery terminal protectors both work pretty well. Once that rattle stopped, though, I noticed the removable panel around the door handle would also buzz for which I cut some pieces of padding foam and attached them behind each one. The results with that were pretty good, too, and both were fairly quick and painless.

Very nice, I like that idea with the terminal connectors. I need to make a run over to Autozone and get some.
