Dear Friends,
I own a 2000 ford ranger 3 liter V6 with auto transmission....
The gas gauge has been malfunctioning by reading an improper fuel level
It will have a quarter tank of fuel... You start it up and it will show that the fuel level is over full.... It will stay that way until you drive about 2 blocks and then pull over and go through the start sequence again....
The fuel gauge never recalibrates itself to the proper fuel level until you pull over and go through the start sequence....
I have no clue whether it is the fuel level sender, the anti slosh gizmo in the dash or the fuel gauge....
It will never reset itself until you shut the key off and start it again....
I hate the thought of wholesale replacement of parts as all of the parts on the fuel system are pretty expensive... (new fuel pump and sender is around 400.00..... HELP !!!!!!!!

According to Chevron fuel gauge problems may be from sulfer in gas jambing up the fuel sensor in the gas tank. Techron is suppose to clean this up as well as clean the crud off the valves and fuel injectors. It worked for me, the truck starts like a light switch.
