What makes the difference between an A/C and non- A/c cooling systems? Why does a Rangers cooling system with A/C take more coolant to fill?
There is no difference for A/C itself.
There was an option for some models -- with A/C, a 4.0L engine and an automatic transmission -- to have a double-size radiator. If you didn't have all three of those conditions, you weren't likely to have the oversize radiator (unless it was retrofit). And you might have all three but still have the smaller radiator.

The a/c generates more heat, both thru the condensor and the energy to run the system. shady

So, basically, the radiators are bigger on A/c equiped vehicles?
