Hello everyone, i am going to be buying myself a plasma cutting in the next couple of weeks, i was wondering what everyone has and how the like it? where the best place to get one, hopefully in Canada?? and dose anyone have any recommendations??

What i need it to cut would be sheet meatel, plat steel most likely 1/4 or so, roll bar tubing, square tubing, ect.

Thanks for any input
Kris

most of the places you shop online, like harbor freight, dont ship to Canada or is extremely expensive to ship to Canada!

Ive been reading reviews on the subject for a while now, seems hypertherm and thermal dynamics are the best in the business hands down. There are guys who have good luck with the imported chinese cheapos but consumables may be hard to come by. Even miller/lincoln ones arent highly recommended.
When I finally pick one up it will be a hypertherm powermax 45, damn good cut capacity and latest and greatest technology in plasma, also made in America by a solid company who ONLY specializes in plasma cutters.
As said before clean dry air is a must or your tips wont last for very long.

The one I have access to is the Miller 375 Xtreme. 110/220v multiplug, weighs as much as a heavy lunch box, carrying case, cuts up to 5/8" steel, a full assortment of tips and cups, and internal pressure regulator and water separator. It costs a little more than average, but the benefits of what this machine has built-in is well worth it.

I already made a circle burner for it. Works fantastic!

I've got a Hypertherm Powermax380. It's a great machine and cuts 1/4" all day. If you're looking for something reliable and can afford it.....I'd recommend a Hypertherm. For simple stuff, the PowerMax30 will do anything you want but if you're looking for a little more capacity then the PowerMax45 would be my choice.

Whatever way you go, be sure to go with the best air dryer possible. The cleaner the air, the longer the consumables will last. Don't skimp out on this part.

The only way to kill a Hypertherm is to shove it out of a truck on to the road at 80 Mph.

well i have done some looking and some reading and i have narrowed it down to 2 choices

the hypertherm powermax 45

and the miller spectrum 625 x-treme

now through my readings i have noticed that the miller has a automatic air regulator but could not find out if the hypertherm dose or dose not.....and the miller automatically detects the consumable type and adjusts the gas pressure....

whats your thoughts on the two

thanks
Kris

I have a hypertherm powermax 1250 with the hand torch and the machine torch for my cnc and it is a great machine. If I was looking for a small unit I would go with the powermax 45 for sure.

I've got a Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 38, and at work we have a Lincoln Pro-Cut 55.

I like my T/D because it'll work on 110/220V, so I can take to friends garages and it'll pretty much work anywhere.

Both work great and I have no complaints.
