Nice. It's not big enough for me. I'd have it burried in "stuff" in 2 days. Can you build one about 4 times that long for me? LOL

I enjoyed building it. I got to use my table saw that I purchased last winter and also bought a new Porter Cable circular saw w/ a laser guide. :yahoo: Shhhhhhhhhhhh do not tell my gf but I built it mainly to get away to do my homework in peace.

Next time you have 'homework' you should make a metal top for it. Thin gauge metal formed over the edges make it easy to clean and protect the wood.

looks good and sturdy. I'd find a 4x8 sheet of that fiberglass for bathroom walls to put on top to aid in cleaning. my $.02

Metal will dent but not crack if you drop heavy stuff on it. I guess it depends on what you do on it and what's on sale that day. Arborite you can find on sale for C$20.00 for a 4x8 sheet [edges broke or discontinued color] at your local lumber outlet or at Habitat for Humanity. A roll of bathroom wall plastic I bought to replace the piece I screwed up when installing wasn't that expensive either, 29" x 72" [IIRC] was ~ C$20.00 plus shipping. The screwed piece made a great crazy carpet for winter fun.

I built a work bench for my one buddy last year, but still have to build one for myself. I just keep using my tailgate for a workbench, lulz.

When I say I have 'homework' I really mean I have homework. I am a electronics and communications engineering student. I have around a year or so left. This quarter I have End System Processes, Ethics and Tech Calc.

Then there has to be a way to make a metal top part of your homework..... is it ethical to leave a job half done? ;)

Looking good, mate. I've got that same circular saw...one of these days I'll have an excuse to try it out.

So what's with the supports sticking over the plywood on the bottom?

2x4's pieces so the bottom shelf can rest on them.

Those pieces I get, I mean the 2x6 along the edges.

That would correct. I have some pretty heavy things and if they fell on my foot I would be very pissed off.

Gotcha. Seemed a little out of place, but that makes sense. Nice work mate! :icon_thumby:

My benches and tables are all steel. Too much cutting, welding, grinding, beating, fire and general shop violence for wood. :headbang:
