Ok...I just pulled a PS Pump from a 97' Ranger for my 93' Ranger. The part numbers are the same, but what fluid should I use. Should I just use reg. PS fluid? Type F? Mercron? I thought I read the 95' up Rangers used mercron, and before used Type F, but both will take PS Fluid. Should I just use PS fluid to be safe? Thanks!

I'm not sure it matters much.

I'd probably use the Type F, as the seals in your box were probably designed for that.
(I've also had Mercon fluid in my '94 Ranger (it was all that was available one time) and the pump is still fine).

I'm not sure how different fluid labeled "power steering fluid" is, never used it (I think most import cars call for an actual "power steering fluid").

I believe in one of the service bulletins, it was said that 95 and prior use Type F. 96 and later recommended Mercon V. But you cant go wrong with Type F.

Book for my 98 says Mercon. I refuse to use merc V in anything that doesn't specifically call for it after my trans incident, and Ford telling me that was correct.

F should work.
