Just a quick Google search during a slow day at work

Looks like they are mostly picks of the same test mule. One would think the new one would follow a similar design language as the F-150

WTH is that thing? A Nissan? EWW. I am def. NOT buying a new truck. I am quite happy being stuck in the 80s' now... 84 BII, 86 reg. cab, and 87 S-cab with V8 swap, and ALL of them manual tranny, manual Xcase (one of them with doubled, I thank you), and all manual lockouts.

Fugly... Anyone wanting a mitsunissaota raise their hands. The biggest reason the Ranger is the best is because they haven't gotten the soccer mom vote in yet.

ewwww, plastic body parts... kill it with fire! it will just melt into a plastic pudle! that dose look like the world ranger tho, man, i feel sorry for every other continent now. i think yugos got more metal on them than those things...arg, i want a time machine now, i cant stand to see the future! being born in 1993 sucks, i was born in the wrong decade, heck im the only one at my school(before i droped out) who used a tape player and an analog cellphone...

Has anyone heard any truth to the rumor that Ford will not offer a extended cab (Supercab) on the 2011 model? If they do this, Ford is dumber than I thought.

hell their supercabs to date are nothing more then glorified reg cabs lol..

The Luigiian

There are four things Ford probably won't offer on the 2011 Ranger:

-Extended Cab

-Four-wheel-drive

-4.0 V6

-Sport trim

I suspect that by next year the only available Rangers will be 2wd regular cabs powered by 2.3 I4s in XL or XLT. And XLT is only if we're lucky.

Ford is hell-bent on killing the Ranger, to hell with what Ranger fans think. I never got to own one, but I've wanted one since I was a child. This strategy by Ford makes me extremely unhappy. But I guess Ford doesn't care about what I think, so why waste my breath?

if they do kill the ranger its gunna be a pain in the ass for guys like me who have a newer style ranger, lift companys etc. and aftermarket parts companys won't see the need to make parts for my style of ranger seeing how they only made them for a few years

Ranger's suspension is exactly the same from 98-2010. That's a bit more than just a few years. Just about everything else except for the front grille is also the same and interchangable.

oh i highly doubt that will be the case.... Rangers are one of the most modified trucks on the road, next to toyota pickups and Jeeps. The aftermarket scene will still be on top of its game when it comes to the Ranger. Lets take the Camaro for example. They continued to make parts for the LS1 camaros even though they were only in production for 4 years. I forsee the same thing happening with the Ranger. People wanted the Camaro back so bad, GM brought it back and it was the one thing they needed to get their ball of success rolling again. Ford's main success is their trucks. Take one of the highest selling Ford vehicles (for lifetime of model) away, and then they will soon bring it back. Mark my words.

A Camaro isn't quite the same as a Ranger. There are a lot more people that want a Camaro than want a Ranger. They make parts for LS1's because everybody wants one, how many Ford 4.0 swaps do you hear going into Jeeps, dragcars, trucks... just about anything other than a RBV compared to a LS1?

The Camaro is a completely different thing, they killed it because even with a pretty new redesign they were not selling that great. Fords continued success irked them and they decided to try it again. I wouldn't call it a huge success either, with 100 more hp than a Mustang they offer virtually the same performance for more money... until the 5.0 comes out. Roughly the same price tag, 100 more hp.

well in my opinion then, I think the Ranger will resurface. Which, according to motortrend.com, there is supposedly a new compact pickup Ford is making that will be built outside the US. So we may just get the World Ranger.... Makes sense with the Tacoma and Frontiers having crewcab trucks, i could easily see the World Ranger coming to the US in 2012

IF they take the Ranger away they will bring something out to replace it, and unfortunatly it will most likely be less of a truck. GM for example took away the S10 with its 4.3L v6 and replaced it with the new 3.5 and 3.7 I5 Calarado wich has more hp and less torque and from what I have heard are not as "work" worthy as th old s10s were. Every one now days are moving to more street type trucks, with exceptions (like fords Raptor) so maby we will get lucky and ford will bring out a more offroad capable work oriented small truck.

The ranger is kinda a stupid buy when it comes to new vehicles.

They haven't changed in how many years? You're paying 10k more than you should just for lower miles on a truck that will last 200k? I mean... what can you get right now at the dealer that you can't get in a used 04?

Besides that new car smell?

A warrentee and disc brakes all around?

I would never buy new anyway, close to it but never brand new. At three years old (it had just timed out of warrentee) with 25k on it I got my F-150 for 10k less than it sold for new... and it still smelled new.

should have became standard a long time ago. My 1999 before its calipers ate its rotors had decent braking. My 2010's braking is PHENOMINAL. Everyone but the ranger had 4 wheel disc for how many years?

That was my reasoning! The peace of mine of a warrenty(i got the 6 year powertrain and 6 year bumper to bumper plus manufactorer warrenties. also got gap protection). IMO comfort that my truck will got me to work and back everyday, and if it fails to its free for me to fix makes $300 a month very appealing

I have a 8.8 out of a '96 Explorer with factory disc's (first year I beleive) waiting to go into my Ranger. Not doing it for the brakes though (it stops great the way it is) but for the limited slip.

My '02 F-150 has factory discs, my brother's '97 with factory rear drums doesn't stop any worse. Most of the stopping power comes from the front anyway.

After you get it paid for though, pile a couple of those $300 checks together and you will cover anything that could break... if you feel the truck is worth it at that point. I have never had anything with a warrentee and have always slept fine at night, aside from a couple light bulbs I have had nothing that warrentee would fix on my F-150 anyway. (spark plugs, tires and brakes due to normal wear) According to the Oasis report, the only things done under warrentee on it was a horn and a maplight bulb, and one of my former $354.25 payments would catch all of that easily.

my only complaint is all the traction control... it make driving up a cinder covered very hard.

Everyone but the ranger had 4 wheel disc for how many years?

The Dodge Dakota, Chevy Colorado and Toyota Tacoma all have rear drums. Only the Nissan Frontier and Ranger have four-wheel disk brakes. Also, only the Ranger and Frontier scored above Marginal in IIHS roof-crush ratings (Nissan got Good roof-crush scores, the Ranger got Acceptable and the Dakota and Tacoma got Marginal. The Chevy got Poor.)

Tacoma's still a good truck, but Toyota's getting really lazy with it. The Ranger nearly matches it in terms of safety for 2010 MY, and that's on a circa-1999 platform. Nissan, of course, is way ahead of both.

what scares me away from tacoma is the PLASTIC bed. The Ranger is far and away the best built truck out there. even against the fullsizes IMO its most durable though pre 2001 toyota tacoma was also a great truck(if u didnt live in the rust belt)

what scares me away from all other trucks except ford is what happens when they are wrecked. I had a lady in a camry hit my ranger at 25 mph and i was at a dead stop. She went under the rear bumper and hit my rear tires. My rear bumper was folded under a bit and there was paint on the tread, but other than that, my truck was fine. That poor camry was totalled. Seriously. I understand i am comparing a car to a truck, but there is something about a Toyota i just dont trust. The oldschool 80's hilux trucks, now those were the shiznit

I'm a sport trac fan and I like the new world ranger. My parents have had two sport tracs that were loaded with the big V6 and they were amazing and ya the bed was a bit small but we have a couple farm trucks for stuff like that, it was a family rig. Now we currently have a 09' Suzuki XL7 loaded and I hate it with a passion. Nothing wrong with it just no power. I want a small V8 in the sport trac just like there is optional in the gm trucks, give me a small V8!!

It will be a shame if they fallow through and drop the ranger.... eventually I would like to get a 8.8 rear end with Disc brakes out of a Explorer and put it on my Ranger. O and I had a 95 Explorer that had all around discs for who ever it was before that said they thought it was 96 I believe it was 95 because my old Ex had them all the way around.
