99 Ranger advice

Hi, I am looking at a 1999 Ranger 4x2 6cyl 5 speed with 108k for sale in my area. Any known problems I should look for? What kind of mileage can I get on the hwy? What is the towing capacity? It is a Sport model, what does that mean? I have a 19ft boat I would like to tow short distances. Boat motor and trailer weight around 2100 lbs.Thanks for any help, I have never owned a Ranger before. Rich..

i havent yet in my ownership of rangers seen a 3.0 damn those things are tiny and ugly

thats interesting, so the sport has the XL interior, always thought it was a little higher,(had the xlt interior)

It will tow the boat fine.. I towed a 6x12 utility trailer with a huge rampgate and 700# quad on it 50 miles through the small hills of southeastern Ohio with a 1999 3.0L Auto. The auto's suck the life out of them. With a stick you should be fine.

Looks like a very nice, and well taken care of vehicle. If it's what you like, go for it. The price is not bad either. I paid $5500 for my 1999 back in 2006. But it's an auto with 4x4 and had under 100K.

Check to make sure the oil pan gasket is not working itself out on the front of the motor under the crank.

ya looks good check all the fluids and if you by it change all the fluids and do a tune up on it

i would run a carfax too if you have the vin#. i would suggest putting in a jet performance module and gibson exhaust (about $550-$600 for both, well worth the money in my opinion) they really opened up my 3.0. i have towed 2 quads on a 6x12 trailer with it 150+ miles and it does great, all together they probably weigh 1800lbs.
