I've read what I could find about winches on here. I know I want planatery gears, but is there a benifit or permenant magnet over series wound? Or is series wound better hands down. Also in terms of reliablity which is better: Superwinch ep (epi) 9000 or Mile marker Se or Si 9500 ? I know for planatery and series wound they are about the same price 500-600. I know I can't drop the grand for a warn. I haven't heard anything bad about the superwinches, but have heard not so good about the mile markers. Any body have actual experience with the MM's? Or Superwinches? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks,

Ryan

A bit late to the party, but here goes.

I've had a MM SE9500 since last summer. Used it at least a dozen times, including a 300' greasy very steep hill with a 2' tall step in the middle that I just had to winch myself up all along, or a pull strong enough to break some welds in the frame. Used it this winter to get some trucks/trailers/myself out of snow banks too.

It has pulled me out everytime I needed it to, and it pulled strong enough to tear some factory welds on the frame. My only complaint is that the shop I bought it from offered a 200$ rebate 2 weeks after I bought mine. :(

I'm with Will on this issue. My life is too valuable to waste it sitting there waiting for my slow-ass MileMarker PE8000 to wind up. It's been reduced to Trailer Duty.....

Buy Once, Buy Warn.:icon_cheers:

Won't deny it is kinda slow ... but I've only used it a dozen times last summer, so it just wasn't worth the extra money.

And at the end of the day, what matters is that it gets me out of trouble. And it did.:P

Check out this 15 minute video (http://www.truckspring.com/winch-comparison-video_942.html). The electric winch comparison starts about 2/3 into it. Ramsey, Milemarker, & Superwinch, pulled more cable than the Warn.

I can't complain about my Summit Racing (T-max) winch. It is just as fast and strong as a comparable Warn, for a fraction of the price ($465 shipped).
