Did I go too far to save my tint?

I wanna know if I'm in over my head. I live in MA and have an inspection this month so rather than stripping my 13% tint I went to a junk yard and bought the driver and passenger windows for 15 a piece. (Cheaper than getting retinted). I figured a quick swap, get the sticker, then swap back and keep em for the years to come.. Problem is I've never changed a window.. Is it easy? Has anyone done this? Did I go overboard? They're manual windows by the way. Any suggestions?
 
ive never been inside the doors on these pickups but i would imagine it would be too hard
 
should have went and bought the whole door... quick swap of the hinges and walah!
 
Be careful when you are taking out your windows. Tint scratches very easy.
 
I'm not 100% sure, but I think those windows are bolted into the regulator, not riveted. If they are riveted, you are in over your head.

ta least the 93 ranger we had was done that way
u must be very carefull when u drill those rivets
 
Well if they are riveted, get them out, carefully, and then bolt the new ones. Carefully.
 
Cakewalk man. Ive replaced a couple windows, its time consuming and tedious, but to save your tint job, which prolly cost you 100 bux minimum to get it and 100 buck to have it put back legal. i think its worth the time and effort. Like said above punch out the rivets and bolt them back in place. Swapping the doors would have been not too bad, except its a real pita to align a door. Id say worse than swapping windows. ANd if you bend a hinge now your really in trouble. Smart move with teh JY windows.
 
They're riveted. Be careful when punching them out. Don't be an idiot like me and let the punch slip when you smack it. BAM! There goes your window. :shok:

HAHAHA sorry, not funny:annoyed: I took a sharp chisel or flathead screwdriver and hammer the head off the rivet, then it took less effort to punch it out, making it much safer for my windows.

Yeah, my Dad came over and showed me that little trick after I busted the first window. :icon_thumby:
 
never seen a rivit that you couldnt drill
