i have a stock 2000 ranger with 3.0L auto trans 2wd and i also have a '96 ranger with 4.0L 5 speed 4x4 both are ext cabs.
i want to build a prerunner but im just wondering which would be a better truck to use?
Thanks

most people stick with 2wd for prerunners because of the IFS suspension and light weight. But alot of people also go TTB too.
I would do the 2wd (assuming you have the coil overs?) Cause they can be pretty kick ass when done right.

Even though I have an a arm truck my vote says go with the 96. I would see about ditching the 4x4 aspect and talk to dave at threat motorsports for an equal length beam kit. They run about 1200. Add some coil overs. Get a set of deaver springs for the rear and some reservoir shocks. This set up will do you some good and will perform quite well. Also, the 4.0 has a lot more torque than the lame 3.0 ford decided to slap in these trucks. For advice talk to raceranger97 and 84projectford. Both are building very well set up beamed trucks and Im sure they will point you in the right direction.
Enjoy.
