Whoa, that's so awesome. I had a similar idea for my 88 because you don't really see ANY 1st gen body style pre-runners. Lookin' good man!

The plan so far is custom bent and and wider D35 beams with 14" Bilstein coil overs, camburg radius arms for teh front...the the rear will just be a deaver spring pack and by-pass bilsteins..also a full cage.

Well, the straight 6 is more like a tractor motor IMO. If you're planning on making a pre-runner type truck, then you're probably going to be happier with something making power at a little higher rev. However, if you did go with the straight 6, it would be the perfect time to go for a bed cage and a rear mounted rad! :headbang:
Probably would be easier to just rebuild the 2.3 if it is a DD, though.

If you can get the 302 running, I'd go with it. Plenty of aftermarket parts for it.

only paid $100 for the rear end...so I actually barely touched the beam fund haha..
However, if you did go with the straight 6, it would be the perfect time to go for a bed cage and a rear mounted rad!
That crossed my mind, and would be very cool!..perfect time to insure my motorcycle and do something stupid to the Ranger!

I do have some GT-40 cast heads..hmmm...
Probably just do the new gaskets and pan for now bcz it will be like $50 haha
I guess ill find out what im doing tomorrow when I pull the engine!
thanks all so far for the input/opinions!

Baja North is awesome. Cool to have a place like that so close. If you know where to look, you can find all sorts of cool, small off-road shops around!
Zombiemoto
02-20-2010, 12:37 AM
ya there are a ton!...i find the smaller ones to be the best...more personable! which is wicked..they treat you as more of a friend then just some guy who wants parts haha

02-20-2010, 12:44 AM
Haha, exactly. I found this one little gem of a place here in Kelowna. If you're ever in Kelowna and need something welded up/suspension fixed/cool part fabbed, check out Alsek Spring and Fab. An actual off-road shop, and there's only like a couple people that work there. They remembered my name in there after only a couple times through! And they do such awesome work, and will take the time to sit down and talk through what you want done with your build. Can also get pretty much anything you need. It's cool to find small places like that.
