I beam question

hey there, first time posting in the prerunner section, just a quick question, building a set of bent/ extened I beams for my 2wd ranger using a set of d44 beams, just wanna know what you guys do for the openings where the 4wd hub would be and where the axle goes into the spindle, just weldin in a cab on the back and leave the hub in?? also just what tire size does every 1 like? i have a set of 33's and a set of 35's, 33's seem to be the popular tire to run thanks!

been wondering what i will be doin for my d44 ends on my kit. Right now im lookin for some cheap broke hubs that i can jsut use as a cap more than anything. that will probably what i do. make sure you beef up those 44 beams as they are pretty weak without the center section in them

If it were me, I would just leave the hubs, and stub shafts, in the spindle, and just take the ujoint apart. Leaving you with only the half of the ujoint that is on the stub shaft, if that makes sense. That way everything is still sealed in the factor ways, even though it isn't 4wd.

For the back side of the spindle you can make a press in cap similar to the factory axle seal. Do not weld to the spindle. That area will become brittle after being welded to and you increase the chances of the snout breaking out of the spindle. Ditch the stub shaft and all that junk, get rid of the extra un-sprung weight. The D44 beam ends are ideal due to the large spread of the ball joints. The only down fall is the weak stamped material around the ball joints, although they would be getting plenty of overlay plating. If you have a truck load of cash laying around, call Blitzkrieg and they can set you up with a machined spindle and hub assembly. :)

Just for clarification.

-Pull out the axle.
-Pull out the cam assembly
-Just use the wheel bearings, rotor and retaining nut.
-Make a cap that you can press in the back side of the spindle.
-Use the stock hub. Or there are a few companies that sell dummy hubs.

would have to say i like my 33x12.5x15s. look good, ride good, play good and not too noisy down the road. i drive her 40 miles a day at minimum. cant wait til snow hits and i can play in some snow :)
