Basically the same thing as the mossberg 500 just cheaper. Got it at the local pawn shop for 135 bucks, so I'm pretty happy. ain't go to shoot it yet. Been readin reviews online, haven't heard anything bad. Anyone own one?

I had a 500 when I was younger an loved it. This one's the same thing, just black instead of the wooden finish.

I love my 500, my main deer slaying machine.

What barrel did you get with it?

Mossberg is exactly what you hear........ a ralatively cheap gun, that shoot straights, you can drop it in the mud, throw it off your 4wheeler, and it's always guaranteed to fire.

But the drawback is...... if you fill the action full of sand, it will feel just as cheap and gritty as it did brand new. The fit and finish is a joke, compared to most brands of guns.

Just shoot it and know it will be faithfull, just don't ever brag up how beutifull of a gun it is or how smooth the action is, or you'll be laughed out of the camp.

Huh, that's what I always thought about Remington 870's.

That's exactly why I like my Mossberg 500. I've been shooting it for 10 years, haven't been particularly nice to it or cleaned it as often as I should, but damnit it has never failed me. I was going to get a new gun this year, but I just can't bring myself to retire the old girl. The forearm is cracked, and that's the only thing that's wrong with it. That probably happened years ago, bouncing on the rack of my fourwheeler.

A pump shot gun is a pump shot gun. When it comes to looks, they usually all look about the same from 10' away.

I was doing a lot of teasing at a family get together after I won a clay target shooting contest we had a couple months ago, nobody could knock on the 'ol 500 that day... and is even a 20 gauge. :D By far I had the cheapest gun there.

Gotta pick your battles just like anything, but don't be afraid to brag up your gun if you get a chance :icon_thumby:

I have found a hat, but that is it. Otherwise all the stuff I see is Remington or Browning.

Field stripping its easy but putting it back together is a pain in the ass, there are 2 action bars and you got to hold them in while you slide the bolt and carrier back in you almost need a 3rd hand, not like the 870 that is cake
