dude jump on it. get it, roll the windows down and get some agressive emyzimes and just spray the shit out of it. the Enzimes will eat any of the bio. and take the smell away. one that is easy to get a hold of is "Kids and Pets" it is sold at wal-mart. you also will want to pull all the carpet and seat, head liners these will be the hardest to get the smell out of. Next pull the plastic trim and door panels. try to wash everything with soap water and a little bleach. same with the bare floor and dash area. after you have washed everything with water and bleach mix. then soak everything with the Kids and Pets. Keep in mind you might even have to pull the dash and the vent system and clean in there.

Frank The Tank

Maybe mythbusters let a pig rot in it like they did to that corvette..... to see if it was possible to make a vehicle smell so bad it was unsellable, they got like 300 bucks for it.

Actually, it said the guy was trying to sell it but he couldn't because someone had commited suicide in it and hadn't been found for a few weeks. I can imagine that the smell of rotting, decaying flesh would turn anyone away from a free truck.

Generally speaking it's probably easier to strip the interior, BURN everything
and start over from scratch with ANOTHER bare cab from a junkyard

You might be able to get the smell out of the interior, ammonia wash, then vinegar
wash then washing soda... but it'll take time.

AD

Basically I'd regard such a truck as a powered rolling chassis with a bed.

Frank The Tank
06-14-2009, 07:29 PM
It really wouldn't bother me.......

I'd just drill holes in the floorboard, hose it out good, and leave the windows down all the time. And chain smoke cigarettes.

i remember when they did it on mythbusters. had crime scene clean up guys come in to try and clean it out with all kinds of enzymes and professional grade stuff. still didnt get the smell out even when they took all the interior out. i would still take parts from outside the truck though haha

actually, i would paint it black, add some blue and purple or black lights, a smoke machine, some spyder webs and call it the "Death Ranger" :icon_rofl:

+1, if it fit my truck and was in decent shape, I would grab the fenders, hood, and without thinking about it. Maybe pull the doors and let them air out they would be good too.

The drivetrain would be good to grab too, couldn't beat it for the money.

That's because there was a lot of stuff Myth-Busters didn't get rid of.

Weather strips, door vent flappers, firewall seals, the rubber seal
around the back glass... it's all gotta go.

bare painted metal, if ANYTHING plastic is left behind it'll attract
flies and buzzards for years...

Hell I've stripped out an interior and replaced it because it smelled
like the previous owners dog.... and after replacing everything I still had to fabreeze the thing on a monthly basis for almost a year.

I'm guessing you're a firefighter by "smoke eater". I'm sure you've smelt death more than once.

Having been a photog in the Navy, I have seen my fair share... Damn, now I got that smell in my nose. It'll be days.

Burn the truck to the ground.

The glovebox is probably full of rolled up crime scene tape.

The smell is probably soaked into the inner sheet metal layer in the form of liquid. Best bet is to toss the whole cab and get another one from a scrap yard.

I didn't see the pics, but it must've smelt rancid, not even 40lbs of hard boiled egg farts would'nt cover the smell.

Yuck.

Goes to show ya, nothin's free......................

worst smell i've dealt with was when my grandmother had to have depends, she was too embarrassed to have them taken in the garbage so she would burn them in a burn barrel, ugh

Yeah people would come looking for that awful smell cause she had a house on an acre sandwiched between a 2 lane country highway and a barely 2 lane used to be clay dirt road.

I've had to drag off cattle when the limbs were loose enough to pop off with a chain.... and when you tried to lift a calf, and your hand went through.

I don't see that a person would smell worse than a cow, or pig...... I really think the truck could be liveable again. I think the main thing would be the stigma of sitting where a man had died everyday on your way to work.
