Hello all, I have a 94 Mazda B-Series and have recently installed a 5.0 HO with an AOD and decided to get an adapter (9" Advanced Adapters) for the stock T-Case. So my question is: How can I run dual exhaust if there is hardly any space available to run the driver side pipe (because of the t-case)?

If anybody has this setup and has dual exhaust please reply with any info that might help me out. Pictures would be great! Thank you all!

Oh by the way, this site is the best thing that ever happened to my truck!!!

i have a 93' with the same engine and tranny, and the larger 13-56 T case. My old exaust set up was duals, it was 2.5inch stainless that ran down the pasanger side of the truck. I ended up going to a 3inch single because it fit a lot better, and made more room under the truck. Duals are over rated.

You really think so? What exhaust did you use? Cuz I only have the piece cut off right after the O2 sensors. Should I get a whole piece from the junkyard or does it have to be custom?

It needs to be custom. Any 4x4 duals or not will have the driver side pipe go the the pass side due to the driveshaft. If you want to keep the duals the driver side pipe will be bent back over, if not they merge into one pipe. I well designed single will out flow duals anyday.

Thanks guys, looks like I'll be sticking with the single side exhaust.

If anyone has a pic handy to get ideas please email me at

thats not true.

a well designed single will flow SUFFICIENT anyday. enough that you wont feel a difference between the same truck with duals.

heres what you need if you want true duals on a 4x4 (my v-6 truck):

I will have to find you the article; I have it somewhere. I can't remember if it was hotrod or carcraft tested it; and it definitely can be done. Granted you need to have everything done properly; equal legnth headers, equal legnth y-pipe and so on to get the best results from a single. That is tough to do with a street vehicle; especially a 4x4. You will have the same problems with dual really the driver's side has to take the long way around. Being street based truck you aren't going to notice a difference over either; just looks really.

the first time i set my exhaust up, i crossed the passenger side under the bed to come out the left side of the truck. this way both pipes were the same length. there was no change in sound or performance after changing to my current setup.

if single exhaust really out-performed dual, no nascar teams (who arent limited by things like decible levels and emissions) would be running dual exhaust (some do, some dont). the fact is both perform fine when set up properly.

Each has it's own application is what I'm trying to get at. If set up wrong either system will hinder performance. If set up correctly either flow well. When it comes to pipe some remember bigger isn't always better. Size the pipe to the application.

My set up can be found http://www.cardomain.com/ride/534733/10

for Pics of it.

I started with James Duff 4x4 headers. Had to make the Collector on the passenger side 3" shorter in order to leave the transfer Case cross member in its stock location.

Pics on that page are blurry I know but didnt upload the camera pics till after I had the truck back to gether.

X-Pipe with duals would probably be my first choice.

A single exhaust w/ collector would be second.

I learned the hard way that true duals suck. Take the 302 firing order for example, cylinders 1&3 and 6&5 fire on the same side of the engine, so the scavenging effect is not consistent.

Couldn't you just zip it back apart again and take a better one?:D

My 5.4 with truelly true duals (no crossover) downshifts less on hills and lights them up easier. I might not have gained as much as I could have compared to the stock exhaust but I am pretty sure it has more than it did before. My Ranger will get the same treatment when the time comes, IMO you can't beat the sound.

Yea, but it takes me 6 hours of work to get to the point where I would be able to take that Pic again and then it would be 8 hours to put it back together again.

If you come over and help maybe it would only take 10 hours.

I think I'll live with the blurry Picture. :headbang: just have a few  and then the pic is in focus. LOL

sublime out.
