If it starts up & runs good, you should be alright. I wouldn't think the steering "wander" he talks about should be too bad, mine has bigger tires & wheels & has very little "wander" at all. If it seems too excessive I would definitely check all the steering components.

The 2.8 will be somewhat noisy, a little ticking in the valves is to be expected, keep in mind...ticking & knocking are two different things, knocking is never good!! The 2.8 is hard to destroy( trust me, I know). It is not the most powerful engine by any means ( it is not meant to be a race vehicle as some people seem to think) but it will hold it's own off road!!

The TFI carb on the 2.8 is notorious for giving problems, but a Duraspark conversion does wonders & as long as you don't have a "visual" test for emissions you can still pass. Good luck!!:icon_thumby:
 
that looks exactly like mine before i painted it and lifted it. now i wish i wouldnt have painted it but i think you should get it
 
I am on my 6th rbv and my 84 BII with the 2.8 is my favorite. Granted I have the 4 sp but i love it. If it had the 5sp it might be gutless.:beer:
 
If you need parts I am stripping my b2 for parts then scraping it. I have LOTS of goodies and am in Cleveland. Looks like a good b2. if I had not purchased my explorer I would be looking into that b2 for myself.
