cam synchro replacement

is there any way to replace the camshaft synchronizer without gettin this stupid alignment tool thats in the haynes manual.... my parts store told me i can get it off the snapon truck but just wondering if it can be lined up without the tool....:no2:

See my post. I did a search on the web and there is a way using a voltmeter according to the source. It sounds logical.
I will search later and post the link.
