Seat cleaning

I have a an '01 Ranger with cloth seats. I bought another seat to replace the drivers seat. The replacement is pretty dirty. I read an article in the library and it sounded like they used a pressure washer and Resolve. That didn't didn't make sense. Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried upholstry cleaner and scrubbing, but it didn't seam to help much.

I wouldn't try pressure wash for sure! What I would do is finding someone or you renting a steam cleaner. I've seen a lot of nasty stuff come out of carpet that way. Go to your local grocery store and rent a Rug Doctor. They offer solution made for fabric such as seats.

I wouldn't use a rug doctor personally. I don't think it will mess them up any, but i don't think it will do any good either. I just don't think there's enough pressure. Last time I used one, it wouldn't even clean the carpets in my apartment.

I would try what they use at the auto cleaners. It looks like a die grinder, or even a regular air grinder with a pad on it.

I don't know if this will mess up your seats, so you might want to ask them at the car wash first

i'd go to a local car dealer and ask them who they send their used cars to, to have them detailed. when the cars are beyond what their "lot lizards" can clean they have a local company do a more through job . call that person and ask what they would charge to do your seat . that way it's done right and you don't have to worry about destroying the seat ,they would be responcible for any damages...

When I cleaned the seats in my 93 I just took the covers off. You have to unbolt the back from the lower part. Once unbolted you should be able to "un-snap" the covers and wash them however you choose. They might've changed things since 93 but my Wife's Malibu is set up the same way.

Mine were the same, gross cloth seat I am sure. I took mine out and rented a carpet cleaner to clean them-they came out like brand new. I raised the lever and laid them down flat, then hit them with the steam carpet cleaner really good n slow a couple of times, nad they came out very nice. Unfortunately I had to wait a good three days for them to thoroughly dry, but they did come out like brand new.

I just did mine, took the seats out and pulled off the upholstery and threw it in the washing machine and let it air dry. They came out like brand new. I have steam cleaned them in the past but the results don't even compare.
