is it worth the 60 bucks to rebuild a A4LD trans? i know people say there crap all the time but staying with it is the only option i have right now. it it something a normal wrencher could do? ive never touched a auto trans because it i have a slight understanding of how it works.

any opinions would be great

thanks hans

I'm thinkin if you can find a used one, you would be better off. Rebuilding an A4LD isn't all that hard... but it does require some specialized tools and a service manual. There are also a few pieces you gotta be wary of in relation to wear and out of round. http://www.transmissioncenter.org/a4ld.htm This place has a lot of the proper parts and updates for the A4LD. It might be of some use to you.
