I'm not very experienced in the towing department. I've got a 96 Ranger Reg. Cab 2.3 5spd 2wd. I was wondering what would I need, to tow a uhaul trailer and what size trailers would I be able to tow. I don't think its possible with just the bumper and the hitch. The load won't be too much on the trailer end. just need a means of hualing a couple of twin beds a big screen computer in the trailer and the bed of the ranger; clothes, tools etc. How hard are those uhaul hitches to set up?

Thanks
Jason

while you could probably tow the amount of weight your talking about with the bumper hitch, i never reccomend towing with it because it will eventually cause your bumper to sag and look ugly. a good class III underbody reciever can be had for under $100 and is relativly simple to install (youll need a 1/2" drill bit).

you'll need at least a flat-4 wiring connector. there are kits out there that plug into your vehicles existing wiring harness (please no NOT cut and splice your wiring!).

get the smallest trailer you think your stuff will fit in. with the items you listed, you should be fine weight-wise...your biggest concern will be aerodynamic drag. going with the shortest trailer that will fit your needs will help you be able to do highway speed easier.

remember to dowshift earlier and upshift later to keep your engine up in the RPM range. if its an auto, dont be afraid to pop it out of overdrive if it seems like its hunting for gears alot.
