It is totally up to you man - if there were any specific fasteners in the Exploder I would have grabbed those along with mounting brackets and used them in the Ranger. Short of that let your imagination run free and the limits are based on what you are willing or capable of doing.
Check the interior section of the Tech Library - I think there is a how to on that console.

And why conform to the masses - Make Your Own - I Did - LOL it is fun and rewarding.
