Hi everyone. A buddy of mine gave me some chrome bullet hole rims, but they have got rust on them pretty bad. How can you get this junk off :headbang::headbang:?

brillo pads work good, but may accelerate the future rusting.

ive cleaned up some pretty rusty motorcycle exhaust pipes with Eagle1 never-dull. takes alot of elbow grease but works good. you might want to think about using a clear coat or silicone spray after getting them clean to keep them from rusting up again.

yep...I've used SOS pads on chrome only to have it return shortly thereafter...unless you have them rechromed they are gonna look OK only till the rust gets moving again...I personally don't like chrome so I end up sanding it down and painting it black...

If they are rusted, that means they are pitted and the rust will come back unless you follow some of the suggestions above.

my last job was at a metal finishing shop. Trust me I know what I'm talking about, and if rust is a problem then your chrome parts are done. As stated, if you scrub, rust will return no matter what you try to do. Chrome is just a layer of electroplating, kind of like a fake gold necklace. Getting the parts rechromed will be expensive even if you can find a shop. EPA has just about shut down most in house chromers due to waste treatment.

wd40 and aluminum foil

wd40 and aluminum foil........care to elaborate a little? do you spray it on the foil and scrub or do you use the wd40 to clean the surface and then wrap the aluminum foil around it to simulate chrome?

spray the area with wd40 and then ball up the foil and scrub it works most of the time
