i have a 2.3L ranger 2wd 4 cylinder 5 speed, i was going to put 2 mufflers on my truck to make it a little quieter than a glasspack, but what if i put on a magnaflow i have right after the cat and downsize the tip from 3 1/2 to 2 1/4 and then i will run a splitter right before the tire holder and i will run one pipe straight back and have the other go around the tire holder and straight back out the other side. will this add to much backpressure or will it be okay?

in my opinion, i dont really like the look of duals on a truck but thats just me.. but i bet u wud get a lil bit of a different sound.. maybe go to 2" diameter for the dual pipes

good lord, your running 3.5" pipe on a 4 banger? that thing must have no bottom end power at all!

i wouldnt go over 2.5" for single exhaust, 2" for duals on that truck.

your too hung up on backpressure. backpressure is not a concern on a 4 stroke engine. you need to be more concerned with scavenging....and with that large of a pipe you have little to none.

it was a muffler with a 2 1/4 inlet and 3 1/2 outlet, but okay so how does this sound i will run, 2 1/4 from the cat back to where i spit the exhaust and then run 2 inch from the splitter. how can i get the most bottom end power?
(by bottom end power do you mean torque and taking off power)

yes by bottom end power i mean torque at low RPM.

that sounds like a much better setup for a 4 banger. if you want even more torque and dont spend a lot of time in the heigher RPM band, go with an even smaller pipe.
