Well today my truck began leaking water heavily from the pulley on the front of the water pump :temper:. Is this the weep hole saying the water pump is going bad or what? '89 2.9 2wd Thanks

The weep hole is on the bottom of the pump. But regardless, if it is leaking from anywhere on the pump it needs to be replaces.

The fan is backwards thread when you try and loosen it. Just an FYI.

Alright thanks. Has anyone used a strap wrench instead of buying the tool? How much harder is it? Thanks.

I think I used a set of channel locks. But then again I don't like spending money on special tools, and had I damaged something I would have been kicking myself.

How did you hold the pulley from turning

Just rent the Ford fan clutch tool from Autozone. No sense messing with channel locks and straps.

Sent while I should be doing something else

I changed my water pump today and the tool from autozone called the fan clutch tool did not work on my 2.9 so I just took a peice of metal and made my own tool to hold the pulley and used a piar of pliers to get the nut off.

You don't. You find a wrench that fits the fan nut and smack it with a hammer while the belts are still on.
