Picked up a new (to me) '04 4.0L and I'm trying to get a few issues ironed out before the 2K/2 month warranty runs out. I noticed a random tick when the truck is idling and finally figured it out after I put my K&N panel filter in the other day. It seems that the AC clutch is engaging for a split second every 30-60 seconds or so. Is this normal? If not, what's causing it? High 30's / low 40's here in MN, so the AC isn't being used at the moment ;)

sounds normal.

the A/C runs when the vents are in either defrost mode.

I Think the newer trucks constantly cycle the compressor, I know mine does.

yep, normal. the Minivan cycles whether or not the A/C is being used.

I found out and experimented that if you don't cranck the a/c all the way, the clicking doesn't come on as much and is less pronounced. I too found out it was normal.
