Just curious....I heard something of putting the D44 ttb steering knuckle assembly's on a dana 35 ttb. What's the details on this?

Im just starting this swap myself. Have all the parts and am going to start mocking it up on a junk 35 beam I have in the basement.

My plans are to ream the tie rod tapers on the 44 knuckle to accept the 35 tie rods from the top as apposed to the bottom on the 44. Ream the lower ball joint taper on the 35 beam to accept the 44 lower ball joint.

Now for the upper ball joint im going to use a TIB ½ ton 2 wheel drive joint as it uses the pinch bolt just like the 35. Did a little looking around yesterday at the parts stores getting different ball joints and measuring then side by side to see what would work best. And wouldn’t you know it a 2 wheel ½ ton joints upper stud is the same diameter as the 35 joint. Granted the stud is shorter but will still work in the 35’s alignment cam unmodified. At least that is the plan.

I plan on doing a full write with pics. Plan on starting this sometime soon. Have all the joints, and all the parts.

89-96 2WD F150 and F250 use the same caster/camber bushings as the D35

I am interested in doing this also. Plan to get a moog chassis book and see if they show ball joint specs. I know they show tierod specs, like thread diameter and pitch and they also show what kind of taper the stud has. I am also going to check the parts store and compare ball joints. So maybe there is a ball joint that will fit the D44 knuckle that has the tapered stud to match the D35 TTB

Hey Todd..How are those new knuckles holding up? I've wanted to attempt this swap for a while now. I keep eating through wheel bearings and am hoping that the D44 knuckles will solve this. Seeing as how you've made the swap, do you think it is a worthwhile one? Have you had any issues since the swap? Any info you could give me would be much appreciated!

Love it so far. Well worth it as I use to blow hubs all the time.

Better brakes, wheel bearings, hubs.
