ok so im looking at a set of rims with a 3 1/4 back spacing would those work on a 91 ranger with 31x10.50x15r or would it be too much back spacing and sit out too far the org. spacing is 4in

How wide are the wheels? Chances are they should work, although 3¾" - 4½" BS is generally better for the wheel bearings.

That's going to be a bit much on the bearings (10s are also too wide for those tires).
I'd look for some 15x7s or 15x8s with a 3.75" BS.

iam runnin eagle alloys with a 3.25 backspacing with 31s on a 15x8 they stuck out a lil but looked awesome.. i just sold the 31s an ordered 33s for the same wheels should look killer! lol
