clutch slipage?

i was up at the dune last weekend and high centered my truck. the problem is when i tryed to get un stuck i'd pop the clutch and the tire wont spin. clutch got hot so i park it there for a bit. after about an hour i had some pull me over the edge and the truck drove fine. the truck only has 30,000 miles on it shouldn't the clutch hold better then that?
 
So what your saying is when you let the clutch out the trucks tires would not spin, but the truck also did not stall? The only way that is possible is if the clutch was totally shot, which it's obviously not since your still driving it.

had people helping push and they said they wern't. it fills like the clutch has a high release, but the dealer say that normal.
 
As long as it doesn't slip and the truck moves it is. My clutch doesn't grab until the last 1/4 of the pedal.
 
If the clutch is in fact slipping it would slip easier in the higher gears (fourth gear) than the lower ones. To test this, drive down the road (freeway, interstate, etc.) and get the truck up to speed to around 65 or soo to where the truck is at peak torque (around 2500-3000 rpm). If it was going to slip, it would then. If it accelerates normal, than your fine.

If you have an open differential, ONE side will spin and the other will just stay there. Most RBV rear ends are open. Worn out limited slips behave exactly the same.

Can you reproduce the problem in the driveway with the parking brake on? If not, your helpers are wrong.

The clutch will often slip easier when it's (too) hot.
