steering wheel help...

A couple screws on the back hold the horn assembly and plastic front to the wheel. Remove these. There should then be a single bolt holding the wheel onto the steering shaft. Remove it. Now comes the part where you need a steering wheel puller. Connect it to the wheel, crank it down, and she's off.

ive done it on my old ranger without a puller, although i do have one now.... but you got to be very carefull, jiggle the wheel, and dont just pull on it(if you dont use a puller). and if you put an aftermarket one on, you need an adapter kit,(around 12 bucks).

I took the nut that holds that on and threaded it on for about three threads. I put a piece of wood or metal on top of that so I wouldn't damage it. Then I pulled the steering wheel with my knees while I whacked the piece of metal, which jerked the nut and shaft the opposite direction of the way I was pulling.
It took two whack and it was off. I used a 20 oz ball peen hammer too.

If you simply force the steering wheel to slip
on the shaft by turning it against a locked column it will simply pop off after a few twists.
Ranger steering wheels are NOT "splined" the shaft (and wheel) have two flats
like a "double D" 117V electrical outlet.
